Easter is around the corner and spring is already here. Businesses and organizations around the area are planning special events this weekend through Easter Sunday.
First Friday IN VUE
This Friday, April 7, IN VUE businesses are open late to give shoppers extra time to fill their Easter baskets or browse for springtime gifts and décor.
Festivities start at 5 p.m. along Fairfield Avenue blocks 200 to 600. It’s rumored we might get a visit from that long-eared, bushy tailed harbinger of Spring!
Packhouse Meats will be on hand again as well, parked at Darkness Brewing. Many have heard by now that Packhouse has closed it’s brick-and-mortar operation in Newport, but the food truck is still going strong.
It’s rain season so take advantage of parking available off the Avenue. Turn at the Fifth Third Bank from Fairfield Avenue toward the river, and parking will be on the left.
Third Saturday Bunny Hop
Meet the Easter Bunny at the Bunny Hop on Saturday, April 15, hosted by IN VUE. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Area businesses will hand out special Easter eggs filled with a surprise and the bunny, along with sidekick Mr. Carrot, will pass out candy along Fairfield Avenue. Face painting will be available to turn children into chicks, bunnies and other creatures.
Easter fun at the library
The Campbell County Library, Newport branch, is celebrating Easter with fun events geared to very young children.
On Saturday, April 8, from 2 to 4 p.m., little ones ages 2 to 5, can stop by the library for Lil’ Peeps Bunny Hop with crafts, treats, games and snacks. Older siblings are welcome to attend this free event.
Saturday, April 15, is Super Saturday at the library, special Easter edition. From 2 to 3 p.m., the Easter Bunny will be on hand for photos with children. Parents are encouraged to bring their cameras. Snacks, Easter crafts and games will be provided until 3:30 p.m.
An Easter Egg Hunt will be staggered by age group:
- 3:30 to 3:40 p.m. — Crawlers and Wobblers (age 0-3 years)
- 3:40 to 3:50 p.m. — Kiddos (age 4-6 years)
- 3:50 to 4:00 p.m. — Big Kids (age 7-11 years)

The Campbell County Public Library, Newport branch, is located at 901 East 6th St. in Newport.
Easter “Egg”stravaganza in the park
Pendery Park will host it’s first-ever Easter “Egg”stravaganza on Saturday, April 15, from 3 to 5 p.m. The event is open to children through age 10 and features an Easter egg hunt, crafts and other activities. Unfortunately, if Mother Nature does not cooperate, the event will be canceled, so watch the skies before heading down.
Pendery Park is located at 4051 Mary Ingles Highway in Melbourne, KY, about 20-25 minutes from Bellevue and Dayton.
