Stephen Phillips (piano) will be joined by Betsey Hofeldt (violin) and Mark Hofeldt (cello) on Friday, February 24, for Music on the Avenue. The performance starts at 8 p.m. and is the fourth event in the popular vocal music series hosted by St. John United Church of Christ in Bellevue.

Phillips is this year’s chair of the committee that oversees the series. The three musicians met in graduate school at CCM and have been performing together ever since at churches, museums, colleges, universities and arts venues in Chicago and throughout the Cincinnati and Dayton (OH) area.

The group performs classical works written for piano trios from Joseph Hayden through present-day composers.

At Music on the Avenue they will perform two piano trios from the 19th century Romantic Era: Trio No. 1 in D Minor by Felix Mendelssohn and Dumky Piano Trio No. 4 in E Minor by Antonín Dvořák.

The final event in the Music on the Avenue series for 2017 will feature the a cappella vocal band No Promises on March 3.

St. John United Church of Christ is located at 520 Fairfield Avenue in Bellevue. Free parking is available in the church parking lot at the back of the building or on nearby streets. The building is accessible.
