by Jennifer Sierra

Dayton, Kentucky‘s High School Athletics Program will be honoring the 1966 state championship football team this Friday, August 26th during the Dayton/Bellevue game.  The game begins at 7:00.  This is the 50 year reunion and they expect to have more than 30 of the players, coaches and cheerleaders in attendance.

The tiny, close-knit community of Dayton, Kentucky was once celebrated for excellence in their high school football program. In the 1966 Championship game, Dayton defeated Russellville, 6-2 under coach Ray King. They were last honored in 2006 for the 40th anniversary.
