Region’s Urban Revitalization Spotlight on NKY’s Bellevue and Dayton
BELLEVUE & DAYTON: Bellevue and Dayton, Kentucky are charming historic river cities, but that doesn’t tell the full story. Each of these communities, a short bike ride from downtown Cincinnati, is moving forward with new quality infill and riverfront developments that have all the latest amenities, including the surrounding walkable neighborhoods and inviting business districts. The historic homes also are being revived with fresh takes on their timeless architectural style and sturdy construction, attracting people of all ages. New and life-long residents alike sense a renewed vibrancy as storefronts reopen.
On April 24th 10AM – 4PM, private residences and local businesses will be open for a self-guided tour when the third installment of the exclusive Beyond the Curb series showcases the Cities of Bellevue and Dayton. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Tour goers receive admission to exclusive behind-the-scenes tours of featured properties, including WatersEdge, Manhattan Harbour and RiverPointe, painstakingly rehabbed single-family residences, along with month-long local business discounts and free parking throughout the tour. The tour begins with registration at Manhattan Harbour.
An initiative of not-for-profit urban revitalization organization, The Catalytic Fund, Beyond the Curb was kicked off in Covington in April 2015 to much acclaim, with 600 registered guests from more than 60 zip codes across the Greater Cincinnati region signing up for the self-guided tour. The success continued with a Newport tour that drew 760 registered guests from 59 zip codes.
The Catalytic Fund’s president Jeanne Schroer explained, “Beyond the Curb was a success in 2015 as we continued to prove there is high demand for urban residential product – from apartments and condos to single family homes. We see significant opportunities in Bellevue and Dayton right now with new businesses and redevelopment projects coming online and more planned. There is a strong tenant mix along The Avenue and greenspace plans continue to progress for Riverfront Commons; these are the kinds of amenities people look for in a community. We want to let the entire region know we already have communities offering a high quality of life in Northern Kentucky’s river cities.”
Northern Kentucky’s river cities as a whole offer everything needed for a comfortable urban lifestyle: walkable neighborhoods, lively small business districts, parks, grocery stores and of course, great views of downtown Cincinnati. Each city contributes to the appeal of the whole area, while also being great destinations in their own right. Beyond the Curb is an initiative of The Catalytic Fund featuring one-day, self-guided urban living tours of Northern Kentucky’s river cities. ABOUT THE CATALYTIC FUND
The Catalytic Fund was created in 2008 in order to provide a source of patient and flexible capital investment into urban development and rehab projects throughout five target investment areas located in the cities of Ludlow, Covington, Newport, Bellevue and Dayton, Kentucky. Today, The Catalytic Fund engages in lending and development services targeted toward urban economic development. The Catalytic Fund has committed to invest $2.7 million since full lending operations began in 2013. Residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects are eligible for Catalytic Fund support.
