The weather looks like it will be great for Saturday’s Art in the Park at Thomas J. Wiethorn Memorial Beach Park. It runs from 11 AM until 5 PM and is a family friendly event.
Kids Give Back at Art in the Park!
Bellevue’s most art-filled day is widely known for its remarkable volunteer support – and this year, helping hands will come from the young people of the community as well! The 14th annual Art in the Park, the unique community event that brings together artists and craftspeople from all over the region, will now function with the help of local kids ages 4 to 17.
The youngest volunteers (ages 4 to 11) will be accompanied by a parent or older sibling and may assist for one or two hours. The older group (ages 12 to 17) will cover three-hour shifts and will help manage the children’s art activity area.
The decision to include the local children was simple. “If we want Art in the Park to be a true community event, we need our whole community involved in making it great,” says Heidi Bohman, children’s volunteer coordinator. “I hope the youth volunteers learn that although they are young, they’re certainly capable of making a difference in their neighborhood and their help is valuable and important to the vitality of our city.”
