Dayton and Bellevue, Kentucky police departments will pay tribute to fallen Cincinnati Officer Sonny Kim on Friday. Both departments plan on having off duty officers attend the funeral services on Friday for Officer Kim who lost his life last week while on duty in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The news of a fellow officer going down in the line of duty shook the police community to the core. “We are going out of deep rooted tradition and respect for Officer Kim. My heart is broken. We have lost a tremendous officer and an even greater human being, husband and father of three children. He will be greatly missed,” Bellevue’s Chief Wayne Turner stated somberly.
Dayton, Kentucky police placed a band on the badge on the side of police cruisers and Bellevue police have placed a ribbon on their badges and cruisers. These tribute bands will be in place at least through the weekend or up to 30 days. A public visitation for Kim will be from 2 to 7 PM, Thursday at Xavier University’s Cintas Center. Fraternal Order of Police services will begin at 7 PM at which point the general public will be asked to leave. Kim’s funeral will be at 11 AM. Friday at the Cintas Center. It is open to the public.
