A variety concert fundraiser for the children of the community is being held this Saturday at the Dayton Bellevue Christian Church this Saturday at 6:00 PM. The church is located at the corner of 8th and Walnut in Dayton, Kentucky. Dayton resident Mai Hernon cooked up this gig to help raise money for meals for local families in need.
Hernon is from Ireland and has a thick Irish accent and she sings with the voice of an angel. Many of you may have met her in the community. Mai’s heart is bigger than her accent and after a story The Bellevue Dayton Sun wrote about the grant the schools received so the cafeteria could stay open and feed the kids during their summer break, she said she felt the pull to do something too. Mai is a musician. She tapped into her network of fellow musicians and was able to put together a concert that is sure to entertain all music lovers. Some of the acts include: Gary Jeff Walker from WLW, Todd Hepburn (jazz paianist), Deb Ohlinger, Will Enger, The Woodpickers, Larry Stokes (country, folk and rock), Justin Bonner Bridges (Irish traditional) and much more. The music selections will vary so there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
This Saturday, after you have spent time shopping the city-wide yard sale in Bellevue, head over to this concert. All proceeds from the concert will go to the “Feed the Kids” campaign. There is a $5.00 cover charge. Larger donations are welcome too.
