We want to congratulate Rian Embry on being chosen as the May “Inspire, Engage, and Grow” Employee of the Month for Dayton Independent Schools. Rian was chosen for “going above and beyond for her students on a daily basis!” To quote one of her nominations, “(Rian) has a very energetic attitude that inspires the students. She stays much later than required to assist with any student that needs extra assistance. Another nomination stated, “She truly cares about each one of her students. Every day I walk by her room and she is constantly challenging her class to succeed.” Rian is also our Senior Sponsor and does a great job of leading students through their senior year. The work she did in leading this year’s group on the painting of the underpass is just one example of how she sets high expectations for students! Thank you Mrs. Embry for all that you do for Dayton Independent Schools!
Star Ritchie was chosen for the May Artist of the Month for going above and beyond in her work. She is passionate about the arts, Music and Drama especially, and she is a great asset to our school.
As just a freshman, Megan Downard has achieved a status in Kentucky Track and Field that only a few others have. She already has staked claim to 4 individual school records. These are, but certainly will not be the only ones:
800 Meter Dash
55 Meter Indoor Hurdles
She competed in the 2015 Track and Field State Championships in the 800 Meter Run – finishing fourth, the 100 Meter Hurdles, the pole vault and anchored a season best time on the 4X400 meter relay.
There were 10 different events that Megan could have qualified for the State Championships in. This is an unprecedented amount of talent and versatility. There are big things to be had for Megan and the very young track team here at Dayton High School. She currently has a 3.6 GPA and she is the only athlete to receive Athlete of the Month twice this year (August, May).
