The River Cities Excellence in Preservation Awards Thursday, May 28 2015 was held at the Corpus Christi Apartments in Newport, Kentucky (2007’s excellence in preservation awards winner for adaptive reuse).
A great audience of admirers and recipients of awards attended this event that is to recognize and applaud the energy, focus and hard work of the good people in the river cities. Preserving, protecting and enhancing historic structures so people can enjoy them for years to come is a shared focus on this evening.
Mayor Jerry Peluso of Newport, Kentucky and Tom Guidugli from Neighborhood Foundations started off the meeting explaining the mission of the preservation awards and some history about Corpus Christi apartments.
In the City of Bellevue, Mayor Ed Riehl, presented the Commitment to Preservation Award” to Ed Kohrs and the “Stewardship Award” to Kevin Miles and Suzanne Wernke of 250 Berry Avenue. Kevin Miles and Suzanne Wernke purchased and lovingly refurbished a home that was in disrepair. The Main Street Manager of Dayton, Kentucky Anthony Cadle, presented Tina Neyer the “Charlie Tharp Preservation Award”.
