Shake those hips right on down to the Historic Shopping District of Fairfield Avenue in Bellevue, KY, on June 5 when Bellevue Renaissance presents a Hawaiian Luau for its first Friday, “Shop Bellevue!” event. Lots of Hawaiian-style fun and entertainment is planned, including live music, a strolling musician and a dancer performing traditional hula. Bellevue Renaissance’s Hawaiian Luau takes place from 5 to 9 p.m.
A Hawaiin troubadour will be strolling the Avenue. A hula dancer will be performing, starting at 7:30 PM, at various points along the Avenue. If you want to be brave and try your hand or hips at hula dancing, there will be a hula hoop contest in front of Ball Embroidery and Gifs located at 301 Fairfield Avenue. If you are feeling extra adventurous, there will be a Limbo contest in front of Gents which is located at 321 Fairfield Avenue. Other activities include Pineapple Bowling by the Purple Monkey located at 401 Fairfield Avenue and live music from 6 to 9:30 PM at Schneider’s Sweet Shop at 420 Fairfield.
In addition, several Bellevue businesses will have Hawaiian-style fun, games and giveaways during Hawaiian Luau, including Hide-n-Seek Hawaiian-style at Circle of Hope Artisans. Find the hidden piñatas in the store, now at its new location at 318 Fairfield Avenue, and enter to win a prize. Witt’s End Candy Emporium, 305 Fairfield Ave., is having three giveaways of candy leis, a Hawaiian tradition, at 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. Siam Orchid, 511 Fairfield Ave., will be sampling delicious and refreshing Thai iced tea flavored with pineapple.
