There was a handsome gentleman that many of you may have known from the Marina at Manhattan Harbour. Cecil Dye was a bright spirit in the Greater Cincinnati community. Cecil was a graduate of Sycamore High School and the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Business and Finance; he was a lifetime member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity; and after graduation, remained in Cincinnati. Cecil tended bar for years at the Manhattan Harbour Marina and he loved and supported live music. Cecil achieved the level of 5th Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. Cecil, was in excellent physical shape and was sought after for modeling jobs regionally. This was why many of his friends were surprised to hear of his diagnosis of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. How could a man that seemed so strong and healthy get this disease?
Cecil passed away in October after a long battle from Hodgkin’s Lymphoma but during his two-year battle he struggled to pay for his health care and living expenses which added additional strain to his already compromised health. A foundation was set up in his name to help others like Cecil overcome financial hurdles and help people focus on their recovery, not their bills.
We are excited to announce the inaugural Songs For Cecil fundraising event will be held Wednesday, May 20 2015 at Cincinnati’s Fountain Square music and event area. We ask you to consider supporting this exciting event in the name of Cecil Dye, Jr. All proceeds from the Songs For Cecil event will go to The Cecil Dye Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to individuals struggling to meet medical bills and living expenses related to cancer treatments.
Songs For Cecil sponsors and participants will enjoy a memorable and fun experience including live music by several of the area’s favorite local artists, unique auction items, giveaways, and selection of fantastic food and beverages from local Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky establishments.
