Athlete of the Month
Lydia Workman is the March Athlete of the Month for Dayton Independent Schools. She finished the first semester with a 3.4 GPA and is in honors 7 classes. Lydia is the only 7th grader participating at the varsity level and has placed in each event she has entered. She has willingly volunteered to run relays with the varsity runners when injuries have prevented them from doing so. At this point, Lydia will more than likely break the middle school records in each of her events. Her enthusiasm for this brand new to her sport is contagious and a true thrill to coach. I look for big things from Lydia as a student and 3 sport athlete while she is here. Lydia is the type of student-athlete that all should strive to emulate.
Artist of the Month
Colin Fiedler is nominated for Artist of the Month due to his outstanding work in Guitar Class at DHS. Colin Exhibits a high degree of persistence and focus through all of his musical endeavors. He practices on his own and is usually seeking out new personal challenges as a guitarist. He is extremely self-motivated and displays a passion for playing guitar that is rare among most students of his age.
Employee of the Month
We want to recognize Mrs. Heather Dragan as the March “Inspire, Engage, and Grow” Employee of the Month for Dayton Independent Schools. To quote one of her nominations, “Mrs. Dragan’s positive attitude and passion for our students is contagious! She excels at making sure your concerns, thoughts, and ideas are truly heard- what a team player! She works tirelessly for our staff and students and we appreciate it. Lincoln would not be the same without her!”
Another nomination stated, “She (Mrs. Dragan) gives unconditional love to the amazing kids at Lincoln and works tirelessly in all aspects of her job. Mrs. Dragan talks to the kids with respect and is often seen surrounded by kids waiting for their daily hugs. Not only is she dedicated to the students, but she has ‘walked in the shoes of the teachers’ and supports them in more ways than people know. Mrs. Dragan, you do amazing things and everyone in the LES building is blessed to have such a special person working in the trenches with us, supporting us, helping us, loving us, and not asking for anything in return. Thanks for all that you do!”
We couldn’t agree more and are so thankful to have Mrs. Dragan as a part of our team here at Dayton Independent Schools.
