Lincoln Literacy Night

LES Literacy book night ii

Last night the Lincoln Little Devils and their parents and families showed up in droves to attend Literacy Night.  This event featured the publishing of over 250 original book titles produced by each fourth, fifth, and sixth grader.  All primary classes worked as class teams to publish a book.  The importance of being a published author can’t be overstated.  Seeing original ideas and thoughts turned into a published work is an extremely powerful experience and an important part of becoming a lifelong reader.  This night was concluded with an inspiring performance by “Jason the Great” as he performed feats of wonderful magic and talked about his personal experiences as an author. The importance of having students produce authentic and original works of literature is a powerful experience that adds to a growing culture of literacy.  The energy from the Lincoln staff and parents helped to make this night a night to remember!
